Nero d'Avola: 87/100
@ Wine Spectator 2008
Blackberry and chocolate: my Nero d'Avola is feminine, fresh and elegant, with fruity notes that are typical of the variety.
It is refined in stainless steel tanks for 5 months, then in bottles, to help the tannins get smooth and round.
What I like is its saline mineral character, its rich fruit and the vegetal touch of the finest herbs, that you can smell walking amidst tre Mediterranean shrubs.
Wine Spectator's rating is 87/100: a short review that goes along with a high score:
87 points: Nero d'Avola 2007 - Some blackberry and dark chocolate character on the nose and palate. Medium-bodied, with fine tannins. Refined finish. Best after 2008. 1,800 cases made. –JS
