NATURE AND LANDSCAPE IN MENFI
Menfi is the right place where travelers can experience unspoiled nature and breathtaking landscapes first hand, a beautiful and secret hideaway off the main tourist routes.
Agriculture here is respectful and sustainable, as wise hands have modeled the landscape for thousands of years. Beautifully intoxicating, the rhythm of parallel lines, diagonals, and perpendicular lines marks the landscape with the abstract but highly communicative design of vineyards and olive groves. It is the human voice that discusses with Mother Earth, in a continuous mutual seduction.
Watching South, the deep blue sea washes some of the most picturesque beaches of the Mediterranean.
Menfi's most beautiful beaches
Porto Palo
Beach club: sun loungers and umbrellas for hire, bar, restaurants, lifeguards on duty in the summer.
Porto Palo, a tiny fishing village and the main seaside resort in Menfi, has been awarded for 18+ years the FEE Blue Flag for its clean sea, and the Green Flag for its fit-for-children beaches.
Cipollazzo
Cipollazzo free beach is subject to environmentally protective restrictions because it is chosen by Caretta-Caretta sea turtles for their egg-deposition. Eggs are deposited in June, and baby turtles are born mid-August, quite a spectacle to see under the surveillance of the WWF volunteers.
Lido Fiori
Beach club: sun loungers and umbrellas for hire, bar, restaurants, lifeguards on duty in the summer.
The ideal beach for surfcasting at sunset, Lido Fiori is a small village East of Porto Palo. The fine golden sand is covered by wild stone plant flowers in early spring.
Bertolino e le Giache Bianche
The free beach of Giache Bianche stretches for about 2 km from the Eastern border of Menfi's territory to the mouth of the Carboj River. Its name comes from the white rounded pebbles that cover the shore entirely, washed by crystal-clear waters and shining under the sun, providing a uniquely evocative view.
Le Solette
Proceeding West from the harbor of Porto Palo village, the beautiful Solette beach is a quiet, unspoiled area. Small sandy coves encircled by flat rocks create slallow basins where kids can enjoy a safe swim. No cars allowed: after a short walk, the beach is accessible by a steep trail.
Foce del Belìce
At the mouth of the Belìce River, the Natural Reserve offers the traveler amazing views of sandy dunes covered with wild herbs and flowers. This unspoiled environment is home to a huge variety of wildlife: birds, small reptiles, and insects like the gigantic black beetles that draw endless doodles on the sand.
