La Sicilia, Vitigni e Territori
@ Guida ai Vini 2011

Last week I met with Alma Torretta for lunch to talk about our next edition of "Donne & Vino", the wine event the we organize every year at our Terre Sicane Wine Route and which will be held in Sambuca di Sicilia next December 3rd. 

It was a friendly chat to focus on the details of her speech and to talk about her newest work: "La Sicilia, Vitigni e Territori. Guida ai vini 2011", a guide to Sicilian wines that was published in the past days.

I very much appreciated the graphic design, a feminine touch and a direct and simple language that reveals the great passion and the professional competence of Alma, a young Sicilian journalist that is at the same time a sweet and strong woman. 

All the wines are selected by the varietal, in alphabetical order: 100 labels produced by 76 wineries. 

Among our wines, Alma selected Azimut. It was a real surprise for me and really a huge one, mainly because Azimut is the only wine made with Merlot grapes in the entire guide. When I asked her the reason for her choice, she answered with a smile: because it is not an ordinary Merlot just like the others...
